Product Description: Immune Health High Bioavailability Supplement Highly Bioavailable Liquid Vitamin CEnhances Immune System Function and Antioxidant Reserves Helps Neutralize Free Radicals in the Body Providing Quality Products Based on Science Since 1969Swanson Ultra's Liposomal Vitamin C It is a cutting-edge formula packed in fat-soluble liposomes. These liposomes safely deliver vitamins directly through the digestive system and into the bloodstream for optimal bioavailability. It is less burdensome to the digestive tract than existing ascorbic acid, making it suitable for supplements that must be consumed in large quantities. What are liposomes?Liposomes are microscopic "bubbles" or spheres formed of phospholipids that act as carriers, delivering active agents (in this case nutrients) to cells and tissues. This substance is effective because it resembles our cells. The outer lining of our cells contains phospholipids, such as those that form liposomes. Without an appropriate carrier on the cell surface to transport water-soluble vitamin C across the lipid layer of the cell membrane, the vitamin remains outside the cell and does not provide the body with its intended benefits. Liposomal vitamin C is a unique delivery form that, unlike other delivery forms, acts as a carrier to deliver active nutrients directly to cells and tissues. What is a 'true liposome'? To form a true liposome, the active ingredient must be placed in a phospholipid carrier. It must be reacted with to create a small, uniform sphere that encloses and maintains the active ingredient with a particle size of about 150 nanometers. You can't mix vitamin C with lecithin and call it a liposomal product, but when analyzed, some products will contain lecithin. Particle size, production method, and the material itself are important. Phospholipids should not be hydroxylated or hydrogenated and should be as pure as possible. Liposomal Vitamin C uses phosphatidylcholine extracted from non-GMO sunflower lecithin. Phosphatidylcholine is preferred because it is one of the major phospholipids present in all cell membranes. How do we know that delivery via lipoosomes is superior to other forms of delivery of nutrients to cells and tissues? Enhanced absorption, improved bioavailability, and utilization. - This is the main advantage that liposomes have over other forms of supplements. But beyond these three points, there is more to consider. For vitamin C in particular, the liposomal form is better tolerated, making high-dose supplements easier and more effective. Vitamin C is highly acidic, so consuming large amounts can cause indigestion, diarrhea, and other unpleasant side effects. Containing liposomal vitamin C, phospholipids act as a barrier to ascorbic acid through the digestive tract, causing virtually no gastrointestinal upset.
